College History
The Redeemed Christian Bible college, being the brain-child of the present General Overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye was founded by the authority of the Redeemed Christian church of God in September 1980. The Church is registered under the Land (Perpetual Succession) of 1990. The College is at 1-5 Redemption Way (formerly 1a. Cemetery) Street. Ebute-Meta Lagos Nigeria. It was founded by Rev J.A. Akindayomi from a humble beginning in 1952 and now being administered by Pastor E.A. Adeboye as the General Overseer. Founded on the Scriptures as contained in the Holy Bible the church has a vision to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to the nooks and crannies of the earth. This brought the need to train her ministers and ministers-to-be in order to be able to discharge these responsibilities of preaching and teaching all nations effectively (Matt.28:16-20, 2 Timothy 2:15,Colossians, 1.26).The Redeemed Christian church of God saw the need to establish a ministerial training school of her own to preserve her fundamental beliefs and doctrines; hence, the establishment of the RCBC.
This college was established to serve the following purposes
- For broad-based theological Ministerial and Leadership training with international flavour.
- To train leaders who could influence the world through Their various callings and professions in the deeper things of God and to equip them with broad leadership skills for the purpose of international missions.
- To build Christian Leaders who could suitably occupy the pulpit and influence their world beyond the pulpit context. On this note the college purposes to equip people for the use of God to effect spiritual rebirth social information within their spheres of
influence.
The provisions of this prospectus are not to be seen as rigid or unchangeable terms for the training of ministers of the Gospel.
Changes could be effected from time to time in the general regulations and in the academic requirements as the Board of Governors deems necessary according to the dictates of the Holy Spirit. However, any change when made is not done in retroactive manner unless It is to the advantage of the students and can be absorbed within the duration of the course normally required for graduation. In order to discharge our responsibilities to the Lord, we endeavor to teach everyman in all wisdom that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus (Col. 1:28).
The Redeemed christian Bible college seeks to deepen the spiritual life of each student so that he/she may be brought into intimate personal relationship with the person of the Lord Jesus Christ in the realms of the mind, the heart, and the will – the mind growing in the knowledge of him, the heart increasing in love for him. We purpose to assist the student to develop wholesome personality that is characterized by poise and confidence, a personality which by the help of discipline from within fits him/her to work with others as part of a team, loyally submitting to superiors, pleasantly co-operating with equals, and graciously presiding over those who serve under him/her.
We purpose to provide adequate teaching in the Bible Doctrines, Theology, Missions, Administration and a lot of other related subjects with emphasis on the validity, contents and teaching of the Bible as a foundation for Christian life and work, and basis for personal study or further formal training. When the behaviour of a student is judged by the college authority as detrimental to ministerial calling, that person may be required to withdraw from the college.
Finally, the Redeemed christian church of God is not under obligation to employ any Of RCBC graduates. However, those who may have proved the genuineness of their calling during the training could be employed if they apply.
